College

BS Elem Educ Towson University 1970; MEd Reading Johns Hopkins University 1975; M+60 School Administration

Employment

I taught elementary school for 13 years before becoming an administrator in Baltimore County. The first 7 years of my career I taught 6th grade at Merritt Point and Inverness Elementaries in Dundalk. Then I taught at Shady Spring in Rosedale. For the last 17 years of my career I was the assistant principal at Stemmers Run Middle, then principal of Victory Villa and Perry Hall Elementaries. I retired in June 2000 after being the principal of Pine Grove Middle for 8 years. Now I am an Outreach Coordinator in the College of Education at Towson University and teach principal "wannabees" at Goucher. I also do some consulting for the Syracuse City School district. I'm a bit busier than I thought I would be when I retired, but having fun.

Marriage

I married my high school sweetheart, Don German, and we have managed to stay pretty darn happy after 33 years!

Children

Our daughter, Gail, is 25 and a graduate of West Virginia University. She is the director of the Seven Oaks Senior Center in Perry Hall.

Achievements

I'm pretty proud of the 30 years I spent in public education. Being an advocate for kids and helping them see the value of being lifelong learners continues to be a top priority.

Groups

Fell's Point Yacht Club, Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race, Belt's Landing Condominium Association

Other

This website is great! Thanks to our classmates who put it together. I don't think any other class has a tool like this to help us stay in touch with "old" friends. It has already enabled me to get together with classmates I hadn't had contact with in years. It also reinforces for me that we were very lucky to have grown up in a solid community where families were important. When I read about the accomplishments of the Class of '66 it makes me very proud of Dundalk.
